This is Roberto Alagna’s one hundredth performance for the Royal Opera and he certainly gives everything as he projects his large and warm tenor with style.
Despite having some glorious arias and generally powerful, sumptuous music, Andrea Chénier is a rare visitor to the world's major opera houses.
The opera is not sabotaged under the temperate baton of Daniel Oren’s conducting; it is likewise not spared.
